A mystical scent of the city! Usually between noon and two, I take a short walk to change the air and since I work next to fields of rapeseed, corn, sunflowers and wheat, my choice of walk is already made. There are also large walnut fields as far as the eye can see, so I take advantage of their generous coolness and theIt is a work of the Vietnamese artist TRAN TRONG VU born in 1964 in Vietnam. It was painted in 2001 acrylic paintings on paper. Offered as a gift to the Museum of Modern Art in Singapore by YEAP LAM YANG and bears the number 2006-01829. This painting represents a criticism of the communist optimism in Vietnam. This painting translates the slogan of HO CHI MINH at the top of the drawing which means nothing is difficult, the painting shows a person fighting to put on a red T-shirt, almost lost in the enormous size of the latter. Mr VU settled in France since 1989, is part of a new generation of Vietnamese artists, he has a critical eye on the history of his country Vietnam. shade they provide during the break, I find it much more pleasant and restful than wandering around in scrambled shopping malls. It’s not that I don’t enjoy meeting and observing a profusion of people going in all directions to find a good deal in the little time they have, personally, I prefer to walk in the open air, it allows me to empty my little brain and recharge my batteries. During my walks, when I hear the sound of a jet engine of an airplane passing over my head, I keep walking and I look at these planes when the weather allows it, they make pretty ephemeral drawings in the sky, there I start dreaming of travel and adventure, I imagine myself inside one of these planes to go to far away destinations. I think about the memory of my past travels and the plans for the one to come, whether pleasant or not, it’s always good moments of tenderness to remember. My last trip was in April, I was a bit apprehensive about leaving my house in a mess, especially because of the history of my kitchen that I bought at Basto, not easy to leave when things go wrong. In spite of this, my wife and I decided to leave, despite our optimism and not to let it get us down, but it started badly since we managed to miss the plane, we had a stopover in Frankfurt for an hour and a quarter before boarding at our destination. What we didn’t know is that Frankfurt airport closes at 11 p.m., and that’s because of the local residents, who apparently managed to get the airport with three runways closed. Moreover, I believe that it is one of the largest European airports in terms of air traffic. Indeed, our plane leaving Lyon was an hour late, when we arrived in Frankfurt, the time to run down the plane to find a notice board, the plane we were supposed to take was already gone, they planted us for 10 minutes. I thought, since it’s the same company, for 10 minutes they were going to wait for us, well I was wrong again, Ja sehr gut we keep your suitcases come back tomorrow, that’s what they told us. We found ourselves wandering around in an empty airport. We had the whole Frankfurt airport to ourselves, yes, but it was empty, and when I say empty, it was really empty. We like the city of Frankfurt by the way, we spent three days at the beginning of March of this year to do a little walk, so nothing is lost, a little walk in addition offered and free, so let’s enjoy the moment. The next day, we found another plane at the same schedule as the day before and they found seats for us on board, I don’t know if I consider that a relief or an additional worry. There is a Chinese proverb that says to see good in evil, so if we missed the plane the day before, it is to avoid an evil that could happen to us and it is not just the fact of having lost a day off.

What was I worried about? Close your eyes and imagine that you’re settling into your time machine, set the cursor to the right destination, fasten your seat belt and when you’re ready to push it all the way down. Alas, full throttle or no throttle, you quickly land in front of the reality of things. To go far away in a country, report someone taking a picture and tell us what they were doing. more than ten hours by plane and six hours away from France, I start by finding out about the language spoken, the customs of the country, what to do and what not to do. While reading the travel guide, I was afraid, since it mentions that there are policemen disguised as civilians, if they catch us peeing or spitting in the street, we get a $1000 almond which must be paid immediately, otherwise, watch out for you. Chewing or carrying gum with you is reprimanded by the law, otherwise it can go as far as corporal punishment with lashes. I told myself that in all my life, I have never spat or pissed in the street, let alone tagged on walls, and that’s certainly not where I was going to start, is it? So I reassure myself by saying Mosquito, calm down and avoid chewing-gum, and don’t worry, it’s going to be fine, you have nothing to worry about, unless you suddenly decide to go and spit piss and tag at the same time on the wall of the first police station you find there, which is totally improbable. What I didn’t know was that we were going to visit an earthly paradise, and those who tried to defile it were severely punished, but those who respected it had nothing to fear. A beautiful, clean country, the scent of exotic flowers in the street, and the flowers that one buys in France at a high price, grow wild, strangely there is no scam to tourists, everything is organized to perfection. However, the only problem I found is that ‘motorists have more rights than pedestrians. So when I crossed the street, I used the authorized pedestrian crossing, or I took my time crossing slowly to annoy the motorists, who in turn don’t hesitate to bang a person crossing a small street in pouring rain, while you try to find a place to shelter. Indeed, this is a tropical and very humid climate, when the rain falls, it doesn’t pretend, five minutes later it’s thirty degrees Celsius, and all the rain evaporates in the blink of an eye.

It’s the most beautiful country in the world, people walk straight maybe it’s a state of mind! Personally, I don’t mind seeing videos running on a loop in the subways encouraging anyone to report other people who commit incivilities against society and the country, I haven’t seen any cops on the street, however there are surveillance cameras everywhere. I don’t agree with the idea of tagging walls or subway trains, it may be art but I prefer when someone uses paper and paint to express their views as Mr. VU, and why not write an article on the net. Fining me for throwing a piece of chewing gum on a sidewalk is normal for me, it would allow people to walk on clean sidewalks, I don’t see the harm in that. In France, when I walk on a territory, I always look at the ground, I’m afraid of walking in a turd, and we must recognize that our pets are very very well fed, the proof when we look at the record receipts of the national lottery we understand why. My wife often says to me, but please look up, it looks like you’ve lost something, I tell her no-no no, you’re the one who’s going to find something that smells very bad. In France, we are too lax, we have a lot of problems at this level which takes us back to the past, whereas in other countries, especially in the Angelo-Saxon countries, denouncing an evil is an act of citizenship. One evening around midnight when we were going back to the hotel after a busy day, my wife noticed a young woman alone in a miniskirt in the metro, she said that it is really safe in this country, and that if it was in France, she could be in trouble. We’re not going to remake the world, are we. It’s a beautiful and rich country, its wealth is not only in its geographical position or in its organization but rather in the people that make it up, there are Indians, Chinese and Malaysians, there is no inter-religious venom, in any case there is not this kind of problem that we have in France. There is no secularism and different religions, mosques are used to Buddhist monasteries, which are used to the towers of Indian temples, or churches, there everyone is free to choose his religion and pray to the god he wants after all it’s the same, isn’t it? They don’t threaten anyone and they are not threatened by others, everyone has the freedom to dress, to live with respect for others and to be respected in turn by others, to practice or not practice the religion they want, to live with their own means, to work and to live from their work, since there is no misery in this country, not like those found in a certain capitalist country where there are big gaps between rich and poor. I can talk to you for a long time about the quality of life, the cordial understanding between communities, the cleanliness, the security, but it is useless to realize, you have to go there without moderation or fear, make sure that you do not leave by passing through Frankfurt.

I leave you with a big kiss.
